Suzy Ghazarian (Newest Board Member)

Suzy is a pragmatic dreamer and terribly good at capturing life’s oxymorons.  She doesn’t often quote Russians or writers, but firmly believes in what Leo Tolstoy once said: “everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself .”  And as a life-long learner, Suzy keeps her toolbox fresh with ways to help her grow as an individual to effectively contribute to the environment we choose to live, work, and play in.

In the beginning …

In the beginning . . .

When we support others and do something from the heart it is a rewarding part of the human experience.   We give in so many ways, making each encounter impact our community which makes us all donors that “make a difference”.  At the core of every mission statement is the goal to serve; a community, the impoverished, the devastated, the helpless, and the unhealthy.   When a particular…

Millennials‏

“Millennials aren’t ready to donate yet”.

“They don’t make enough for us to target them as donors”.

“They’re still too young for us to figure out or spend too much time on”.

These are unfortunately some basic generalizations that many nonprofits believe about this generation. My generation. Yet, these are the underlying assumptions that create the divide between a nonprofit and this incredibly…

Journey House continues to inspire us with each visit we make. We go to Journey House once a week to spend time with them, learn more about why they do what they do, and do any development work they may need. Their organization is run on a “mom and pop” type model that stays away from big government funding. This model allows them to be very intentional and to work more freely with their youth…providing everyone involved with very personalized attention. Journey House has chosen to run their organization this way in order to truly impact our community.

This is one of the reasons why Journey House, along with the other nonprofits being represented at this event, need the support of their community in the most impactful way! Come out April 19th to hear, see, and feel what Journey House has been doing so differently for the past 30 years right here in Pasadena! They are your next door neighbor, so come and get to know them! =) #fosteryouth #fostercare #emancipatedfosteryouth #Pasadena #la #love #hope #witness #life #blessed #overcome
